APEX will be attending this year’s Animal and Vegan Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC from May 16 - 19. We will be giving a presentation called "Integrative Activism for Collective Liberation". 🦈🐮🌱
Giving this presentation will be APEX team members:
Chris "Soul" Eubanks, Founder/Executive Director
Yvette Baker, Director of Activism
Akbar Ali, Head of Communications
In this presentation, we’ll be focusing on the indispensable role of fostering BIPOC allyship towards animal liberation and why it’s imperative our efforts to challenge systems exploiting nonhuman animals also include the humans disproportionately affected by animal-exploiting industries: people of color.
APEX will also be hosting a BIPOC meetup where animal advocates of color can meet and network to learn about inclusive and radical approaches to animal advocacy rooted in the lived experiences and perspectives of BIPOC activists. It's an opportunity to share experiences, challenges, and victories in advocacy while building a supportive community.
For those who are interested in learning more about the team at APEX, we will also be hosting special one-on-one sessions where you can engage in in-depth discussions with myself and others at APEX who have a wide range of experiences and perspectives on social justice advocacy.
Additionally, we’ll be tabling at the AVA Summit, and handing out our BIPOC Animal Activism Starter Guide, a guide that was written by us, for us, and is meant to inspire readers to become advocates for nonhuman animals.
APEX, in collaboration with other folx at AVA and in the DC area, will also be participating in an action which centers the ongoing fight for a free Palestine (Falasteen) which is open to all collective liberation activists at the event.
We hope to see you there!
